Baby it’s Cold Outside In-Home Session | Dellwood, Minnesota Family Lifestyle Photographer

Baby it’s cold outside!  So let’s have an indoor family session!  I love these.  The kids are usually so much more relaxed in their own environment.  Here is a sneak peek from my last session.  Where we stayed nice and toasty indoors instead of braving the cold.  I’ll be sure to post favorites on Facebook when I finish editing the whole session.  Stay tuned . . .

Studio Mini Sessions | Twin Cities, Minnesota Child & Family Photographer

I know just last week I posted the sneak peeks from the first day of mini sessions; now I’m posting the second day!  These were such a big hit that I’m offering ONE MORE DAY on November 26th.  There are only 2 more spots available and this will be it for the year.  I’ll post more information at the end of this post.  But for now I wanted to share these fabulous studio sessions . . .

As you can see we did a lot of heirloom type images and less holiday this round but the option for both is there.  If would like to get into one of the spots available on November 26th e-mail me at michele@mqnphotography.com or click here: Last Minute Holiday Sessions

Why Your Photos Should Be Printed By a Pro | North Oaks, Minnesota Child & Family Photographer

Professional printing makes a world of difference.

When researching photographers and their pricing, you might notice that some packages include digital photo files, or they may give you that option as an add on to your package.  This allows you to archive the images on your computer or share them on social media. But if you are planning to rush to the photo lab around the corner to have those photos printed, you may want to give it a second thought.

Yes, you have just paid a professional photographer to take your photos and you want to save some money but by not getting a professional to print your photos, you won’t be getting the full effect of the time and effort that went into those images.

So why should you get a professional to print your photos?

There is a reason that your photographer spends hours editing your photos. They aim to perfect the colors and sharpness of the images so that it is a work of art and not just another photo. They will also often have their monitors calibrated with the professional printing company that they use.  Your local photo lab is not a professional photo lab and the person who will print your photos most likely will not have a background in photography or a trained eye, and they have not been trained in color theory.

Your photographer has access to a professional lab and has built a strong working relationship with them. These professional printers use professional grade paper, inks and machines that you won’t find at a regular store, which is why they cost a little extra. Trained technicians also monitor the printing process to ensure that you receive the very best quality of images.  By investing a little extra in your prints with your photographer, you ensure that they last longer because better materials were used.

There is of course a place for your 1 hour-print labs but if you’re looking to print photos for the walls in your home then having your photos professionally printed is well worth the investment.

Faith and Hope in the NICU | Minnesota NICU Photographer

This little guy was born early on the evening of September 5th. His mother was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia and at 28 weeks and 4 days needed to deliver due to the deterioration in her own health. Pregnant with twins; unfortunately his sister did not make it and had passed away in the womb about a month prior. Born at 1 lb 15 oz this cutie continues to be in the NICU. He has underwent one surgical procedure on his little stomach and the family is unsure of what else will be in store for their little guy.  I was so honored to give this family some photographs that can show their love for their beautiful little boy.  This family is a wonderful example of why I love doing what I do.  They have faith and a belief that he will grow and thrive into a healthy little boy.   There are not always happy endings in the NICU but there is so much hope that lives there and it warms my heart every time I go and photograph a new little fighter.  I don’t think I’ll ever stop doing this.
