Fun Alternatives for Displaying Your Photos

Amazing photos deserve an equally amazing display but this doesn’t mean you always have to use a traditional frame to showcase them in your home.

Below is some inspiration for deciding how to display your favorite memories.

If your home décor is very contemporary you might want to consider canvas gallery wraps, image blocks or standout mounts to showcase your photos. Going frameless is also a great option if you’re looking for something truly sleek and modern.

I’m not particularly modern but you can see where a gallery wall of canvases looks especially sleek.

If rustic and chic is more your style, then why not turn old pieces of wood into stained photo clipboards, using binder clips to hang the photos against the wood. Another unique option is to hang your photos on a thin cable to make it look like a clothesline. Binder clips also work perfectly for this.

If you’re the creative type and have some extra time on your hands then there is the option of creating frames out of washi tape. This way you can incorporate different colors and designs around your photos to really make your walls pop. I actually had a really cute wall design once with something similar but we moved and I couldn’t save it.  😦

If you are a fan of frames, why not buy different sizes, colors and styles and create one big photo wall that displays a variety of memories. There are so many shapes and designs that you can use to create your photo wall and really make it your own.

Since I work with so many creative vendors who offer a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional framing and display options, I am able to help you pick a unique option that suites your home and style. Whether it’s a traditional frame with hand-cut matting, shadow box or float frames, I will help you pick the right option for your home.

No matter which method you choose, get creative. Filling your walls with a lifetime of memories is one of the most special and visual ways to tell the story of your family, so get hanging.

Decorate with Family Images, how to display images from your photo sessions

The Fireplace

You’d be amazed how much one dramatic piece above the mantle will make your heart sing.

A Large Wall

Add a few or a lot of images to make large walls more homey.  You too can feel like you are in your own gallery with your lovely images.

Above the couch

Another space for a dramatic family image is right where you cuddle up together whether it’s the couch or bed.  Always be reminded how special and loving your family is.

The staircase

This is another location where you can really do a lot with and make your space feel more like home.  It’s the one place you walk by how many times a day?

Baby’s bed

Yes your kids grow up fast but they are only this little once and the best place to put your newborn images is all over baby’s room so you can always remember how little they once were.

I offer up a guide to anyone who needs more wall display ideas.

Coffee Table Books, a Favorite Product | North Oaks Minnesota Family Photographer

I got an e-mail the other day from a client that said “I had a mini panic attack in the van a couple days ago thinking I never THANKED YOU for the book!  It’s awesome, thank you SO much.  I’m so grateful that you offer the coffee table books for people.  It’s such a great way to look back and see how the kids have grown, I love them!”  It seriously warmed my heart.  Her book turned out so lovely that I wished I had photographed it but I was in such a hurry to get it to her before Christmas that I promptly put it in the mail.  This is her second book and both of them are so lovely.

These coffee table books I offer are so affordable I wish all clients would forgo the digital’s and just get this.  This year I have made some changes and created some collections that I hope clients will take advantage of instead of a la cart digital files.  I understand that digital files are a hot commodity and they are important to have but if you aren’t going to ever look at the images once they are on your computer then what good are they?  I mean seriously?  But these books!  I personally have 7 myself and my kids love love love going through them.

But even if these are a little over price point then I offer proof books that are really fantastic especially for the price.  I have multiple of these too of course.  I wouldn’t recommend something to clients that I wouldn’t want myself.

This year too by popular demand I’m going to try out payment plans.  Sort of like a layaway for your wanted photography products.  I know photography can be a big investment so I understand that smaller chunks might work better for some families.

If you want a copy of the new 2017 Session Guide just send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to send it over.  Lot’s of great information on the new collections and portrait sessions being offered this year.
