Last Friday I dragged my very own family out before sunset to get our annual family photos done. Last year we did it around spring so we were overdue. I have to say I’ve been photographing my own family for about 9-10 years now and in the beginning there was always tears. My own and my kids. It’s probably only within the last few years has it really changed. My kids and my hubby don’t want to see me break down and I’ve just managed my expectations. I’m never going to get the images I take of other peoples families. I have to be behind the camera to know what’s going on and to be able to capture it. If the camera is on a tripod it’s just not always the same. I try though and sometimes we will get one or two or three but I know I’m not going to get a gallery of fabulous images. My clients are so lucky! Yes it would be easier if I just hired someone to photograph us for me. And maybe I will someday but until then, I’ll keep at it. Every year seems to get easier anyway. Till next year . . . .
